LAGOS APC RALLY! When I felt the bullet in my stomach, I thought I was dead, says Journalist
Temitope Ogunbanke, one of the journalists who was shot at the flag-off campaign of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos, has said that he is thankful to be alive after he was hit on the neck and stomach by bullets.
Ogunbanke, a correspondent with the News-Telegraph, told Daily Post that the bullet touched his stomach and fled past him.
He further revealed that when he touched his stomach and didn’t see blood, he heaved a sigh of relief knowing he is truly alive.
“Escaped gunshots on my neck and stomach.
“I thank God that I am alive. When I felt the bullet in my stomach, I thought I was dead.
“It was when I opened my eyes and touched the stomach and saw no blood that I knew I was still alive.
“But I was scratched by the bullet on my face,“he said.
According to multiple reports, three journalists, including the Group Political Editor of The Nation newspaper, Emmanuel Oladesu, News-Telegraph correspondent, Temitope Ogunbanke, and Ibile Television cameraman, Abiodun Yusuf, were hit by bullets during the rally.
It was also reported that three other people were killed while a number of persons were also injured, robbed and beaten at the rally.
WuzupNaija had earlier reported that a popular leader of National Union of Road Transport Workers, MC Oluomo was severely stabbed and his currently receiving treatment in Eko hospital.
Meanwhile, the Police command in Lagos State has declared one Mustapha Adekunle, aka Seigo, a chieftain of the NURTW wanted in connection with the incident, while two suspects have been reportedly arrested.
