RECESSION: Nollywood actress now sells roasted plantain by the road side on Lagos Island
Nigeria is currently in recession, this is according to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) figures for the second quarter of 2016 released by the country’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) recently.
The figures revealed that the country’s GDP growth rate slid from -0.36 per cent in the first quarter to -2.06 per cent in the second quarter.
Since the troubling proclamation was made, many Nigerians have been seeking ways of beating the effects of the recession. While some are already returning to the farm, others are trying their hands in trade.
This is definitely not the case of popular Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe Gentry who on Wednesday took to her Instagram page and shared pictures of her selling roasted plantain, popularly call ‘Boli’.
The movie star captioned the first photo, “Economy Recession Don hol me…..come and buy Boli oh.”
She wrote on the second, “I burnt the Boli.”
See the photos below:
The pictures drew a lot of funny reactions from the actress’ fans with some of the fans asking for the price of the roasted plantain despite knowing it was a scene from the film: “Impossible Relationship”.
