American pastor Israel Ford has explained how his first wife agreed to his marriage to another woman after he introduced the second woman to his congregation.
According to P.M. News, the cleric addressed questions surrounding his marriage after videos of his introduction of his second wife attracted reactions online.
Ford explained that his relationship with the woman, identified as Shakayla, developed gradually while she was assisting his family.

The pastor disclosed that Shakayla became close to his family through her support for his first wife.
According to him, she assisted with cooking, cleaning and other household responsibilities, particularly when his wife was unwell.
Over time, he developed romantic feelings for her.
Ford maintained that he did not proceed with the second marriage until his first wife became comfortable with the arrangement.
He also said the three of them prayed and fasted while considering their decision.
The cleric disclosed that they agreed to embark on a 40-day fast and that he and Shakayla subsequently experienced similar dreams.
Pastor defends decision to make marriage public
Ford explained that he publicly introduced his second wife because he believed religious leaders should be transparent about their personal lives.
“I believe that transparency is everything,” he said.
He maintained that his decision reflected his desire to practise the principles he preached.
The pastor also said he considered openness important to providing an example to people who followed his ministry.
His explanation comes amid public discussions surrounding the unusual marital arrangement.
