Fuji music icon Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, popularly known as K1 D’Ultimate, is set to headline a major Nigerian Independence Day concert in London. This will take place as the country marks its 66th anniversary.
According to Vanguard, K1 will headline the 2026 Nigeria Independence Party. It is scheduled for October 1 at the Meridian Grand, Advent Way, London.
The event, organised by Chief Mrs Bola Olatise through Alexes Promotions Ltd, is expected to bring Nigerian music and culture to the diaspora community. This is specifically aimed at those in the United Kingdom.
K1 leads London Independence celebration
The concert will also feature gospel and contemporary performer Laolu Gbenjo, alongside DJ Mind D Gap.
Abidemi Alaran and Toplotech Entertainment are expected to handle hosting duties at the event.
Organisers said bringing K1 and other Nigerian performers to London reflects efforts to strengthen the connection between home-grown entertainment and audiences abroad.
K1, one of the most influential figures in Fuji music, has spent decades taking the genre beyond its traditional Nigerian audience. He has achieved this through concerts and international appearances.
London show targets Nigerian diaspora
The Independence Day concert will offer different ticket categories, ranging from standard admission to VVIP packages and table bookings.
The event is also expected to attract Nigerians living across the United Kingdom. Many will want to celebrate the country’s Independence Day through music and entertainment.
The October 1 performance adds another international engagement to K1’s long-running career. In addition, it reinforces Fuji music’s continued presence on global stages.
