Veteran Nollywood actor Yemi Solade has revealed that he was once paid to pretend to have a physical disability during a staged healing at a church. Discussing his experience, Yemi Solade church miracle involvement is something he made public before rising to fame.
The 66-year-old made the revelation during a recent interview with Feel Right News TV. While recounting his student days, the Yemi Solade church miracle incident came up as a notable memory.
Solade said he was approached to participate in a church programme where he was required to pose as someone with a disability. In fact, he was supposedly healed after pretending to have a disability, and this forms part of the now-famous Yemi Solade church miracle story.
“I have been used for a miracle then, when I was not popular. I acted physically disabled; they paid,” he said.
Actor says participants were compensated
Solade said those recruited for the exercise received money for participating.
He recalled that he and others sometimes spent the payment on alcohol after completing their roles. The Yemi Solade church miracle episode remains a controversial talking point from his early years.
“We would use the money to drink beer. They would come and carry us from our department,” he said.
Although the actor said some of the people behind the alleged arrangement are still alive, he declined to identify them.
“The people involved are still alive; I don’t just want to mention names,” he added.
Solade’s revelation comes after the actor previously disclosed that he stopped attending church services more than a decade ago.
He nevertheless maintained that he believes in God. He does not regard his decision to stop attending conventional services as abandoning his faith.
