The United States and Iran carried out attacks against each other for an eighth straight night, with Washington targeting Iranian military infrastructure while Tehran claimed it launched retaliatory drone strikes against US military facilities in Kuwait.
US Central Command said on Sunday that American forces had hit coastal surveillance systems, air defence positions, maritime assets, missile and drone storage sites, and facilities belonging to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
The command linked the strikes to the July 17 attack in Jordan that killed two US service members.
Iranian state media reported that US strikes hit Qeshm Island, Sirik Port, areas around Hajjiabad, and locations near Bandar Abbas and Bandar Lengeh in Hormozgan province.
Tasnim News Agency, citing security officials, rejected reports that Qom city had come under attack, saying the province remained unaffected.
Health Ministry spokesperson Hossein Kermanpour said the death toll from US strikes over the past three weeks had reached 50, with more than 500 people injured as of July 18.
