The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 40-year-old man, Abubakar Sadiq, as the prime suspect in the killing of his elder brother, businessman Alhaji Sadiq Kawu Boga.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje, on Wednesday, operatives tracked the suspect based on intelligence following the murder on January 20, 2026, in Boga Village, Gombi Local Government Area.
During interrogation, Abubakar Sadiq confessed to involvement in the crime alongside five other accomplices. He allegedly led security operatives to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle believed to be used in the attack.
The suspect further led investigators to two alleged accomplices, Jalo Hamiyu, 35, and Umar Baba, 41, both from Fotta Village. A joint security team comprising police, hunters, and Civilian JTF moved to arrest the duo.
“The suspects opened fire on the operatives in an attempt to evade arrest, resulting in a gun battle in which the two men were neutralised,” Nguroje stated.
Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining members of the suspected criminal network who are still at large.
