A professional hairstylist identified as Sebastine Timothy has been shot dead by suspected armed robbers in the Satellite Town area of Lagos State.

According to the PUNCH report, the incident happened on Sunday night at Olasanoye Street, shortly after the victim returned home from work.

An anonymous police source stated that the robbers stormed Sebastine’s apartment, robbed him, and made transfers from his bank account before shooting him in the head.

“A complaint was made to the police on Monday morning that he was attacked in his apartment after returning home from work on Sunday night. The robbers robbed him of his belongings and transferred a certain amount of money from his bank account. He was thereafter shot in the head,” the source said.

Neighbours who heard gunshots later found his body in the house, while the attackers fled the scene.

However, a popular social media platform, Confra Naija, known for exposing cult-related activities, alleged that the killing was linked to a cult clash.

According to the platform, the attack was meant for Sebastine’s brother, a suspected member of the Aye confraternity.

“The Eiye cultists came to attack Sebastine’s brother, who is a member of Aye. When they didn’t find him, they turned on Sebastine, who told them his brother wasn’t around. They forced him to unlock his phone and transfer money to them, took his phone after the transfer, and shot him in the head,” the post read.

Meanwhile, friends and community members have been mourning his death. A Facebook user, Glory Hope, wrote, “Very hard-working guy, why did this happen to you, na? Very good barber, chai. I feel so sad since I heard the news. RIP guy.”

When contacted, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, said Sebastine sustained a head injury during a fight with some unknown men.

“He sustained an injury to the head and died on his way to the hospital. The police can’t say if it is a gunshot injury or a machete cut. The family reported the incident at the station and later took his corpse to the mortuary,” she said.

The incident comes just weeks after armed robbers attacked a barbershop in the Cele Nica community of Ojo, killing two teenage customers, Chijindu and Akorede.

Residents have since called on the police to increase patrols in Satellite Town and other areas hit by cult and robbery attacks.
