Senate President Godswill Akpabio has returned to Nigeria following a brief vacation in London, putting to rest widespread speculation regarding his health.
Akpabio arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja at around 4 a.m. on Monday.
He was received at the presidential wing by senators, aides, and supporters.
His absence after attending the Sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament in Geneva, Switzerland, which held from July 29 to 31, had triggered social media rumours claiming he was critically ill and hospitalised abroad.
Speaking to journalists upon arrival, Akpabio dismissed the claims as unfounded.
“There’s nothing like such. I’m fit as a fiddle. I only stopped over in London for a short vacation,” he said.
