Pa Ayodele Adebanjo: Ogun to host farewell in May

The final rites of foremost nationalist and elder statesman, Pa Ayodele Adebanjo, have been announced to hold May 3, 2025.

A statement released on behalf of the family by Ms. Ayotunde Ayo-Adebanjo, Mrs. Adeola Azeez, and Mr. Obafemi Ayo-Adebanjo outlined the burial arrangements, which will commence with a Day of Tributes and Service of Songs at Harbour Point, Victoria Island, Lagos.

On Friday, May 3, the wake will be held at Adebanjo’s country home in Isanya Ogbo, Ijebu Ode, followed by the interment and a reception for guests at the same venue.

The burial proceedings will conclude with a Thanksgiving Service on May 4 at St. Phillips Anglican Church, Isanya Ogbo, by 10 a.m.

In their statement, the family expressed gratitude for the outpouring of love and support, urging well-wishers to keep them in their prayers as they prepare to honor the legacy of the respected elder statesman.

“We covet your prayers for the family and your professional support as we continue with preparations to give him a most befitting burial. We also look forward to your esteemed presence at all the events,” the statement read.

His burial is expected to draw dignitaries, political associates, and admirers from across the country, as Nigeria bids farewell to one of its most distinguished voices in public affairs.
