A tragic accident on Sunday morning claimed the life of an unidentified ambulance driver who collided with a truck near TREM Church, heading toward Gbagada on the Oworonshoki Expressway in Lagos.

The accident happened around 1:30 a.m., involving an ambulance with registration number JBD-405HA and an unidentified articulated truck.

Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority, Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed the incident and shared details from the initial investigation. “The truck was hit on the side while in motion, which caused it to shift into another lane,” he explained. “The ambulance, coming at high speed, then crashed under the truck, tragically killing the driver on impact.”

Eyewitnesses reported that the ambulance driver was trapped inside the vehicle and could not be rescued in time.

Emergency responders from LASEMA and other agencies arrived to clear the scene, ensuring public safety and restoring traffic flow.

The driver’s body was later handed over to representatives from the Ambulance Association for transfer to the morgue.

Both vehicles involved in the accident have been handed over to the Nigerian Police Force for further investigation.
