The Federal Polytechnic, Ekowe, located in the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, has announced scholarships for the top five students in each of its five newly accredited departments.
According to the PUNCH, the newly introduced courses include Petroleum Engineering, Welding and Fabrication, Oceanography, Cooperative Economics, and Maritime Technology.
The Rector of the institution, Lukman Agbabiaka, made the announcement over the weekend during a tour of the campus facilities with journalists.
“Ekowe Polytechnic is proud to be the only institution with accredited courses in Petroleum Engineering, Welding and Fabrication, Oceanography, Cooperative Economics, and Maritime Technology, reflecting the unique needs of our riverine environment,” Agbabiaka stated.
He added that the institution is offering full scholarships to the first five students enrolled in each of these departments, emphasizing the polytechnic’s commitment to providing quality education that equips students with globally competitive skills.
Agbabiaka also highlighted the institution’s conducive learning environment, which features a 24-hour power supply, well-equipped science facilities, and a team of qualified educators. The polytechnic also boasts standard hostels, an e-library with free Wi-Fi, a Computer-Based Test center, and newly acquired water buses to facilitate easy transportation for both staff and students.
“Our goal is to ensure that our graduates are well-prepared to meet the demands of the global labor market,” Agbabiaka added, underscoring the institution’s emphasis on professional certificate programs and skills acquisition.
