President Bola Tinubu has appointed Dr. Nkiruka Maduekwe as the interim Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Council on Climate Change. This appointment is pending confirmation by the NCCC Supervisory Council.
Presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale announced the appointment on Sunday, explaining that it aligns with President Tinubu’s commitment to advancing Nigeria’s green industrial vision.
This move aims to boost investor confidence and unlock sustainable economic value through various climate finance instruments.
Dr. Maduekwe, who is 39 years old, has an impressive academic background. She holds a Bachelor of Law degree, a Master’s degree in Environmental Law & Policy from the University of Dundee in the UK, and a Doctorate degree in Law from the University of Hull in the UK.
In addition to her role as Director-General, Dr. Maduekwe will also serve as the Co-Chairperson of the Intergovernmental Committee on the National Carbon Market Activation Plan.
