President Bola Tinubu celebrated the achievements of the Nigerian National football team, the Super Eagles, by announcing national awards (Member of the Order of the Niger, MON) for each player in a special meeting on Tuesday.

The recognition also came with the generous gesture of flats in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, and a piece of land.

The delegation to the presidency, led by the Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, included officials from the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF.

The Super Eagles, who secured second place in the recently concluded Africa Cup of Nations hosted by Côte d’Ivoire, were all dressed in green attire for the occasion.

President Tinubu, through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, commended the team, the coach, the crew, and the entire management for their hard work and dedication throughout the tournament.

He acknowledged the challenges they overcame and the consistent improvement in their performance, leading them to the finals.

In a statement, President Tinubu urged Nigerians to stay positive, emphasizing that Nigeria achieved a significant victory in the hearts of Africa and the world through the team’s grit, determination, and skill on the field.

“Let this passing event not dispirit us, but bring us together to work harder. We are a great nation bound as one by the green-white-green banner of resilience, joy, hope, duty, and untiring love,” said the President.

He also encouraged young Nigerians showcasing their talents in football, reminding them that they could be heroes in the future. Tinubu assured that his administration is committed to making dreams come true.
