MohBad’s mgt sues late singer’s dad N20m for defamation
The artist’s management of the late musician Mohbad has initiated legal proceedings against his father, Mr Joseph Aloba.
The management has filed a defamation suit amounting to N200 million, disputing recent claims made by Mohbad’s father in a media interview.
In the interview, Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, claimed that his 26-year-old son, the late musician Mohbad, had left behind a will that only had a thumbprint and lacked a signature.
This suggests that the will might not be legally valid or recognized due to the absence of a signature.
Contrarily, Mohbad’s management strongly rejected this claim, expressing strong disagreement with the assertion made by the late singer’s father.
In response to the father’s statements, Mohbad’s management released a statement rejecting the claims and subsequently issued a legal notice demanding a retraction of the “slanderous” remarks and a public apology.
Additionally, the management is seeking N200 million in damages as part of the legal action.
The notice sent to Mohbad’s father reads, “You are to publish the same unqualified apology within 14 days of this letter with payment of N200,000,000 (Two hundred Million Naira) through this honourable chambers (Bankole Falade & Co) within the set period.”
Mohbad’s legal team also asked Aloba to retract all the things he said in his interview with TVC.
In the suit, Aloba is specifically instructed to retract his claims that he found lawyers at Mohbad’s residence instead of doctors and that these lawyers were involved in actions before his arrival.
The legal team refutes these allegations and demands a public retraction from Aloba.
Moreover, the document warns Aloba about the serious consequences of his statements and asserts that, if he fails to comply, he may face legal action.
In addition to the demand for a retraction, Mohbad’s legal team has instructed Aloba to remove the allegedly false statements from all social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
