Gunmen abduct former Niger APC chairman
Gunmen invaded the town of Zungeru in Niger State, kidnapping the former chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Wushishi Local Government Area, Alhaji Sule Muhammad.
According to Daily Trust, the assailants struck in the early hours of Thursday, unleashing sporadic gunfire as they forcefully took Alhaji Sule from his residence.
Eyewitnesses shared that the former APC chairman was abducted around midnight, during which his daughter and son sustained injuries from the attackers.
One resident, who chose to remain anonymous, recounted the harrowing incident, stating, “When they (gunmen) came around on Thursday, they started sporadic shooting, and it lasted for about an hour before they took away the former APC Chairman, Wushishi LGA, Alhaji Sule. They shot his daughter in the leg, and one of his sons also sustained cutlass cuts. As I speak with you, they have not established contact with the family.”
Efforts to reach the Niger State Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, proved futile as he could not be reached by phone. Additionally, he did not respond to a text message sent to him.
