Troops arrest two ammunition suppliers, seize weapons in Kaduna

The Nigerian Army’s 1 Division in Kaduna has arrested two individuals suspected of supplying ammunition to terrorists.

The troops also recovered weapons and confiscated 16 motorcycles in Kaduna.

The Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for 1 Division, Lt.-Col. Musa Yahaya confirmed the operation in a statement issued in Kaduna on Wednesday.

He stated, “Following credible intelligence, troops of 1 Division, Nigerian Army, in the early hours of Oct. 24, arrested two terrorists’ collaborators and ammunition suppliers in Awon general area of Kachia Local Government in Kaduna State.

“The two arrested criminals and items recovered included one locally made AK 47 rifle, two dane guns, eight rounds of 9mm ammunition, seven live cartridges, and five shells of expended cartridges,” Yahaya said.

He added that the items had been buried in the criminals’ compound but were successfully retrieved by the troops.

Aside from the arrest, Yahaya said, “The troops engaged the criminals in a gun duel, forcing them to scamper in disarray due to troops’ superior firepower.

“The recovered items from this operation included a G3 rifle, 16 motorcycles, two locally made guns, and a mobile phone.
