Asisat Oshoala nominated for 2023 women’s ballon d’Or award

Super Falcons and Barcelona Femeni forward Asisat Oshoala has been nominated for the 2023 Women’s Ballon d’Or, becoming the first African player to be nominated for the award twice.

Oshoala had a successful season with Barcelona, helping the club win the UEFA Women’s Champions League and the Spanish Primera Division, making her one of the most prolific strikers in the world.

Asisat’s nomination was announced on the Ballon D’or official X(formerly Twitter account)

She is the only African player on the list nominated for the award, which will be presented in October.

However, her nomination is a testament to her talent and her achievements in the game.

Other nominees for the award include Barcelona and Spain star Aitana Bonmatí, the favorite to win, Linda Caicedo and Germany and Wolfsburg star Alexandra Popp.
