The young Malian migrant who saved a four-year-old child hanging from a fourth-floor Paris balcony after scaling the facade with his bare hands will be made a French citizen, President Emmanuel Macron said on Monday.

AFP reports that Mamoudou Gassama will also be offered a place in the fire brigade.

Gassama met with Macron after a video of his rescue went viral on social media.

Macron also shared the information on his Twitter page. The translated version reads,

“With Mr. GASSAMA who saved Saturday the life of a child climbing 4 floors with bare hands. I announced to him that in recognition of this heroic act he would be regularized as soon as possible and that the brigade of the firemen of Paris was ready to receive it.”
