Popular Nigerian actor, James Ikechukwu Esomugha, fondly called Jim Iyke has revealed that he doesn’t post his family and follow anyone on social media because he sees the platform as a ‘pseudo’ reality.
In an interview with media personality, Temisan Emmanuel, of Tea with Tay podcast, which was published on Friday, Jim Iyke noted that social media is a public life where people market their opinions and products.
According to him, it’s not a platform people want to take as their everyday life.
โFrom day one I got on social media, I didnโt want to follow anybody. I wanted to establish the fact that this is a market place. Itโs a pseudo reality there. Itโs not what people want to take as their everyday life.
โIf you see any of my posts, itโs tailored. I donโt post about my family. I donโt post my pleasures. There are certain things I think should be left for one to experience alone.
โThere are three tiers of life that I live. I live the private life, the public life, and the secret life.
โSocial media is public life. If I want to make a statement in style, if I want to make a statement on my ideology and principles, if I want to market something, or if I want to set a new understanding on my opinion of something, that is where I should be.
โIf Iโm having a good time with people that donโt mind being on that platform,I go there,โ he said.
The actor further noted that he was protecting his kids from social media so that they wonโt be judged by their actions or be noticed in public.
โI have kids that run the mall at every part of the world and no one will say, โI know that faceโ,โ he said.
