JUST IN: Igboho’s German wife, Yoruba monarchs, others arrive Cotonou Court
Scores of Yoruba Nation supporters on Monday thronged the Cour De’appal De Cotonou in the Republic of Benin for the trial of embattled self-styled activist, Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho.
Although the hearing is scheduled to begin at 10:00 am, there was no heavy security presence at the entrance of the court.
In a BBC Yoruba live update monitored on Monday, anxious supporters were seen outside the court premises waiting for the arrival of the fugitive.
Reports also said that Igboho’s German wife, Ropo and some traditional monarchs have been sighted at the court premises, according to the BBC correspondent.
The Nation also reported that a Yoruba rights group, Isokan Omo Odua, had mobilised supporters for the embattled supporter as a sign of solidarity.
While some people were seen hanging around outside the premises, others sat inside the court waiting patiently for the hearing to commence.
Some Yoruba-speaking supporters especially from the southwest and indigenes in the Benin Republic said they were in court ahead of the arrival of Igboho, who was arrested in the country last week.
However, as of the time of filing this report, Igboho was yet to arrive at the court.
