Family to hold public memorial for DMX at The Barclays Center on April 24
Brooklyn’s Barclays Center will play host to thousands of fans and celebrity of American rap icon, DMX on Saturday, April 24.
WuzupNigeria reported that DMX, real name Earl Simmons, died on Friday, April 9, at the age of 50 after he suffered a drug overdose that triggered a heart attack on April 2.
Speaking to TMZ, the rapper’s manager, Steve Rifkind, revealed that DMX will be honoured by family and friends on April 24, with a private funeral service to take place the following day at a New York City-area church.
Ticketing and COVID-19 logistics are still being worked on, according to the report.
The arena has a potential capacity of 19,000.
Recall that WuzupNigeria reported that the rapper’s family urged his fans to beware of being scammed by fraudsters claiming to be raising funds for the rapper’s funeral.
Family members told TMZ they do not need to raise funds to pay for his funeral.
They have also warned fans that any DMX merchandise being sold now is not family-approved
