Ajax CEO, Van der Sar, backs Van de Beek to break through at Man Utd
Donny van de Beek’s £35million deal to Manchester United is still a mystery to pundits and fans but Ajax CEO, Edwin Van der Sar backs his countryman to prove critics wrong.
Speaking ahead of Man United’s Premier League clash with Fulham at the Craven Cottage on Wednesday night, the former United goalkeeper believes that Donny has a future at the club.
The 23-year-old has struggled to break through the United ranks since his move from Ajax due to the form of Bruno Fernandes, Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Scot McTomminay and Fred with just two starts in the Premier League and eight further cameos as a substitute so far.
“I do talk to more people at the club [Manchester United] about [Donny van de Beek]. He has Fantastic attitude, he is doing well in training,” Van der Sar told Ziggo Sport.
“It’s hard [for him] because Pogba is coming back, Fernandes is very important, Matic and McTominay, who are there.
“There is no shame at all. It is a big club too, isn’t it? Of course, it is a large amount (the transfer fee), but they are confident that he will get there.”
