Manchester United captain, Harry Maguire has accused the critics of the club of being jealous of the Red’s successful history.
United defeated Everton 3-1 on Saturday to avoid the worst start to a league season since 1989-90, handing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a breather after woeful performances sparked rumours of his sack.
Speaking after the game at Goodison Park, Maguire admitted that it has been difficult for the team due to negative expectations from critics.
“At this club one thing I’ve noticed in my time here – I’ve been here a year and a half – is we are the most talked-about club in the world,” he said.
“Why? Because we are the biggest club in the world. People don’t want us to do well. Why? Probably because of the success we’ve had in the past.
