Badagry West Chairman tasks youths on unity
The Chairman, Badagry West Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mr. Joseph Gbenu, on Friday advised youths to be united in order to overcome the present economic challenges facing the country.
Gbenu gave the advice during the first official inauguration of members of the National Youths Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Local Organising Committee Executive of the council in Badagry.
According to him, youths are strongholds of any community and with unity among our youths of today, there is nothing you can’t defeat.
“I am happy today to see youths of my council coming together as one in anything they are doing.
“If you continue to work as one, there is nothing that you can not achieve.
“I have not witnessed a day like this since I became the chairman of the council in 2017.
“I am happy to see youths coming together here in Badagry; in spite of the deplorable state of the road, you managed to come together,” he said.
Gbenu urged them to contribute positively to the development of Badagry in Lagos State and Nigeria.
“You are leaders of tomorrow, and what you do today will be remembered after you.
“I congratulate the new executive of NYCN, and implore them to work for the progress and unity of other youths in Badagry,” he said.
Also, Mr. Sulaimon Biliaminu, the Chairman, NYCN, Lagos, said that the council was not affiliated to any of the political parties.
Biliaminu said their objective was to ensure that any party in power succeeded, urging youths to start thinking about the aftermath of COVID-19 pandemic.
According to him, what are our youths doing to rescue our nation from this pandemic?
He said that the time had come for our youths to take over mantle of leadership from the elders.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the eight-man NYNC members were sworn to an oath administered by the chairman of NYNC and were given certificates of office.
Also, Mr David Aladeotan, the Coordinator, Badagry West NYNC, promised to serve youths in the council.
Aladeotan commended the youths chairman for coming down to the city to inaugurate the chapter’s NYCN.
