Hajj: Adamawa commences refund of deposits to intending pilgrims Aug. 10
Adamawa Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board said it had fixed Aug.10 for the commencement of refund of deposits to intending pilgrims of the aborted 2020 pilgrimage.
Alhaji Abubakar Salihu, Executive Secretary of the board made this known to journalists on Tuesday in Yola.
Salihu said that the board took the decision after consultations with key stakeholders, including the intending pilgrims, who had made a deposit for the pilgrimage.
“It is already known that the Saudi Arabia authorities have barred international pilgrims from performing the 2020 Hajj as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“All those who wish to seek a refund should write to the board’s secretary through their local government schedule officers,” he said.
He said that those who would want to roll their deposits until 2021 pilgrimage, could do so, and assured that their deposits were safe with the board.
“Those who have started payment but are yet to make full payment of the N1.459 million fare before the cancellation can complete it if they wished.
“But deposits from intending pilgrims who have not made any initial deposits have been suspended until further notice,” he said.
