Nigeria has secured an additional 10,000 slots for the 2027 Hajj. This raises the country’s total allocation from 50,000 to 60,000 pilgrims.

According to The PUNCH, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria announced the increase. This followed engagements between the Federal Government and Saudi Arabian authorities.

NAHCON said 7,500 of the additional slots would go to state Muslim pilgrims welfare boards, agencies and commissions.

Tour operators receive 2,500 slots

The remaining 2,500 slots will be shared among seven lead tour operator companies.

NAHCON Chairman Ismail Abba Yusuf thanked the Federal Government and Saudi authorities for approving the increase.

“The additional allocation brings Nigeria’s total Hajj allocation for the 2027 pilgrimage from 50,000 to 60,000 slots,” the commission said.

NAHCON promises transparency

Yusuf said the commission would manage the additional places transparently and in accordance with Nigerian and Saudi regulations.

He also promised to maintain high service and accountability standards.

The commission is expected to review parts of its operational timetable following the increase. These will include arrangements for processing pilgrims’ biometric information.
