The Medical Women Association of Nigeria (MWAN), Delta chapter, has donated medical items to the Comprehensive Primary Health Care Centre, Idumuje-Unor, Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the donation was made on Thursday in Idumuje-Unor by the State Chairman of MWAN, Dr Minnie Oseji, on behalf of the association.

In her remark, Oseji said the donation was part of measures by the association to support the state government’s efforts at improving health care services in the rural areas of the state.

“The Medical Women Association of Nigeria embarked on a  nationwide project to promote maternal, newborn and child health in one health facility in each State of the Federation.

“Here in Delta, we adopted the Comprehensive Primary Health Care, Idumuje Unor, as the 2019/2020 Biennial health facility for MWAN, Delta State Chapter,” Oseji said.

She listed the interventions to be implemented to include training, provision of medical equipment and flyers for health education as well as supportive supervision and data-based evaluation.

Oseji said that a training programme had earlier been conducted for the matron of the health centre, followed by the provision of medical equipment.

According to her,  the association’s effort is expected to attract support from the Nigerian Urban Reproductive Health Initiative (NURHI) to the clinic.

NAN reports that items donated include face masks, handwashing buckets, flyers, reproductive health manuals, drugs and consumables.

The Chief Health Care Worker, Comprehensive Primary Health Care, Idumuje Unor, Mrs Blessing Anwadike, received the items on behalf of the clinic’s matron.

She thanked the association for the good gesture and promised to ensure judicious distribution of the items for the benefit of the community.
