Nigerian-Lebanese businessmen, billionaires and philanthropists – Ronald and Gilbert Chagoury – boosted the fight and containment of the spread of the deadly coronavirus pandemic with N1bn donation to Lagos State government.
The state is the epicentre of the Coronavirus disease in Nigeria recording 145 cases. The brothers’ donation to the Lagos is the so far the single largest donation to the state government to help it tackle the disease.
They also donated 300 plates of meals per day to the government to feed patients suffering from the disease and health workers taking care of the patients.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Government has launched a COVID-19 website to enlighten residents with up-to-date information on the coronavirus pandemic in the state and entire Nigeria.
Mr Olatunbosun Alake, the Special Adviser to Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Innovation and Technology, made the disclosure in a statement on Thursday in Lagos.
He identified the website as https://covid19.lagosstate.gov.ng
Alake said that the website would provide instant access to vital information on COVID-19 as part of efforts of the government to contain the spread of the virus.
