Residents panic as corpse tests Lassa Fever positive
There was a growing fear of outbreak of lassa fever in Gusau town, the Zamfara state capital, following the death of a woman who was tested positive of the desease.
The woman, who was brought to King Fahad Women and Children hospital Samaru Gusau died today and investigation conducted by doctors has shown that she died of Lassa fever.
A senior health official who did not want his name to be mentioned told our reporter that, the woman was brought to the hospital with symptoms of Lassa fever and later died.
He stated that, when the test was conducted on her, it was discovered that, she died as a result of Lassa fever.
At the time of filing in this report, the doctors were testing the other women who were in the same room with the dead woman to find out if they were not infected by the desease.
The hospital was also under heavy security to prevent people from gaining entry so as to avoid the spread of the killer disease.
All efforts to talk to the goverment officials on the issue proved abortive, as nobody was ready to talk.
