For openly identifying as Marlians, some students of the Air Force Secondary School I(AFSS), in Ikeja, Lagos got more than they bargained for from the school administrators.

Military schools in Nigeria are known for their strict enforcement of rules and brutal corporal punishment for defiant students. This experience makes students feel they are being prepared for a career in the military.

This informs why many students are always calm and law-abiding when they are around the school environment which is mostly sited inside a military barrack.

Following the trend of identifying as a Marlian which is fast spreading like a virus among teenagers and young adults, some students of AFSS Ikeja got the beating of their lives.

One of the students who is believed to have created a parody Instagram account to share their ordeal said the management had thought Marlian is a cult group.

The students called on Naira Marley to make a public pronouncement clarifying what the Marlian movement stands for.

The student wrote on their IG handle @AFSS_2k20:

What we get for calling ourselves marlians…..my school thinks marlian is a cult that do not wear belt and the girls do not wear bra and pants Monday Wednesday and Friday…. Please tag @nairamarley so this statement can be debunked naira Marley has to make a video to tell the world that he is a disciplined person so all this can be reduced
