Bayelsa police arrest four for initiating minors into cultism
The Bayelsa State Police Command has arrested four persons for allegedly initiating minors into cultism in Yenagoa, the state capital.
Police spokesman, Butswat Asinim, said the suspects were arrested in collaboration with a vigilance group at Okutukutu community.
Butswat named the suspects as Godbless Jackson ‘m’, 29, a native of Idu-Oruan, Oruan Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State and Happy Osoro ‘m’, 21, of Okogbe, Ughelli South Local Government Area, Delta State.
Others are: Lawson Nmor ‘m’, 23, of Rumuekpe, Emohua, Local Government Area, Rivers State and Dennis Sunday ‘m’, 21, of Ekpe Ukpa, Etinan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
He said:
“Following a tip off, operatives of Bayelsa State Police Command in collaboration with the vigilante of Okutukutu community, Yenagoa, arrested four suspected cultists on 10th January 2020, at about 0530 hours, for allegedly initiating minors into cultism.
“The suspects were arrested when one of the minors they had initiated informed his elder brother of the alleged initiation.
“All the suspects confessed to the crime and are being interrogated, for further investigation at the Anti-Cultism Unit, State Criminal Investigation Department(SCID), Yenagoa”.
