Lack of experience not an issue, Frank Lampard boasts
Chelsea’s new manager Frank Lampard has dismissed insinuations that his lack of managerial experience would be a major hindrance for him, despite only having a single season in charge of Championship side Derby under his belt.
Lampard who admitted that he was expecting a question about his lack of managerial experience, insists that he has learnt a lot from the year he spent in charge at Derby.

Speaking at a press conference where he was officially unveiled as Chelsea head coach at Stamford Bridge on Thursday afternoon, the former England international said:
“I presumed that question would come quite early! I thought about it a lot. One year in professional management and you get the Chelsea job – that doesn’t come around very often.
“I played under a lot of fantastic managers, so that stands me in good stead. I’ve had one year at Derby where I learnt a lot, and I know about this club; I know how it works. But I have to prove that.
“I’m ready for that. I believe in myself completely and I want to prove I’m ready to manage this club.
“Football is littered with stories of inexperienced managers who do spectacularly well and some who don’t, as well as experienced managers who do well or don’t.
“I believe in myself completely and what I think will define my time here will be my work ethic and what I put into it.”
