ATLETICO MADRID are ready to make a move for Manchester United flop Alexis Sanchez, according to reports.
Diego Simeone is among a handful of interested parties who are looking at the Chilean, 30, a reprieve from his disastrous move to Manchester United from Arsenal.
According to reports in Chile, Sanchez has had contact from Atleti over a potential summer switch that would include meeting his current £500,000-a-week wages.
Sanchez has scored just five goals in 45 appearances for the Red Devils.
But his troubles could soon be over, according to journalist Nicolo Schira.
He tweeted:
“Atletico Madrid is really interested in Alexis Sanchez. He could leave from Manchester United in summer and Simeone has offered to “El Nino Maravilla” a contract until 2022.”
Inter Milan and Juventus are two clubs also interested in the former Barcelona and Arsenal star.
Simeone is well known for getting the best out of under-performing players through tough love, with the likes of Diego Costa and Fernando Torres prime examples.
Sanchez has been one of the worst signings in Premier League history after switching from Arsenal to United and scoring just five goals in 45 appearances in all competitions.
He had two major injury spells last season before returning for the last five games, then missing the final day defeat to Cardiff.
His shocking return has seen 89 per cent of United fans demand he gets the boot, according to an exclusive Sun Sport poll.
Sanchez will attempt to put his woes behind him at the Copa America as Chile face Japan, Ecuador and Uruguay in Group C, after their pre-tournament friendly against Haiti.
