The Independent National Electoral Commission has revealed that over 31,000 Permanent Voter Cards have not yet been collected in Anambra State.

This comes ahead of the Continuous Voter Registration exercise, which is being prepared for the upcoming governorship election in the state scheduled for November 8, 2025.

According to data shared by INEC, 2,624,764 PVCs have already been collected in Anambra, while 31,690 are still unclaimed. If collected and new voters register, the total number of voters in the state, currently at 2,656,437, could rise before the election.

INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, said the commission is getting ready to begin the voter registration process.

“We are aware of the urgency to commence the CVR, particularly given the forthcoming governorship election in Anambra State,” Yakubu said. “We want to assure Nigerians that we are finalising our preparations for both activities, the details of which will soon be made public.”

The CVR will give eligible Nigerians who have not registered the chance to do so. It will also allow registered voters to update their information or move their voter registration to another area if needed.

On Wednesday, INEC also released the final list of candidates for the governorship race and announced the official start of election campaigns.

According to a statement by Sam Olumekun, INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, this update comes after political parties completed their candidate substitutions and personal details were confirmed.

Sixteen political parties met the submission deadline of May 12 and will take part in the November 8 election.

INEC is now urging eligible voters in Anambra to collect their PVCs and get ready to take part in the upcoming CVR so they can vote in the election.
