It was a night of glitz and glamour at Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles, the venue of the 2021 edition of the annual Black Entertainment Television (BET) Award on Sunday night which had a live audience in attendance for the first time since the pandemic.
Themed “Year of the Black Woman”, the BET Awards was hosted by Award-winning actress Taraji P. Henson, who started by stating that “Celebrating Black women isn’t a fad or a trend it’s a forever mood”, according to CBS News.
Chris Brown won the ‘Best Male R&B / Pop Artist’ category while Late Black Panther actor, Chadwick Boseman bagged a posthumous ‘Best Actor’ category, beating the likes of Daniel Kaluuya and Hollywood legend, Eddie Murphy.
The big winners of the night were Rapper Megan Thee Stallion and DaBaby who were tied for having the most nominations of the night as Meghan took home awards for “Best Female Hip Hop Artist,” “Best Collaboration,” “Viewer’s Choice” and “Video of the Year.”
