Singer Yemi Alade was subjected to slams and cheers from Twitter users over her recent comments on the delicate topic, depression.

Mental health is becoming a centre for debate across the world, especially on social media, due to a number of deaths occurring as a result of depression.

Speaking on her verified Twitter handle on Sunday, the Shekere singer opined that depression can be caused by thinking about what one lacks.

In the since-deleted tweet, the Single and Searching singer advised her 758K followers to ensure that their focus is directed on what they have.

“Depression comes from thinking about what YOU DON’T HAVE, and what is wrong with the world! Let’s focus on what we have more, please,” she tweeted.

The tweet has since attracted mixed reactions from numerous Twitter users and while some believe that the 31-year-old international music star is out of line with her comment, others think otherwise.
