Thousands of Portuguese football fans have flooded the Instagram page of Bruno Fernandes, urging the Manchester United captain to provide more support for Cristiano Ronaldo during Portugal’s campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

According to a report by Football Tweet on X, Fernandes’ latest Instagram post attracted more than 20,000 comments from supporters expressing frustration over what they believe is a lack of service to Ronaldo in recent matches.

One comment that gained significant attention online called on Fernandes and other Portugal players to remember Ronaldo’s sacrifices and contributions to the national team.

“Before stepping onto that pitch, remember the man who opened the door for all of you. Remember that 19-year-old kid who cried after the Euro 2004 final defeat. While everyone else left the pitch, he stayed there, heartbroken, because wearing the Portugal shirt meant everything to him,” the comment read.

The message went on to highlight Ronaldo’s emotional commitment to Portugal, his achievements over the last two decades and his role in elevating the country’s football profile globally.

“This could be his last dance on football’s biggest stage,” the comment concluded.

The reaction appears linked to Portugal’s recent performances, with some supporters arguing that Fernandes and other teammates have not done enough to create opportunities for the 41-year-old forward.

The online campaign has generated mixed reactions among football fans.

One user, identified as Reechmilly, wrote: “Brrr I almost cried while reading this, everything this person said is so true. He won’t be here in the next 4yrs, just do it for him.”

Another user, AbdullahiLawerl, criticised the pressure being placed on Fernandes, saying: “Portugal fans are so sickkk man so Bruno is their problem.”

A separate post by Football Tweet described the scale of the reaction as “incredible,” noting the growing frustration among sections of the Portuguese fanbase.

The development highlights the enormous expectations surrounding Ronaldo as he pursues what could be his final opportunity to win the FIFA World Cup with Portugal.

With the tournament progressing, many supporters are hoping the veteran forward receives a memorable send-off on the international stage after more than two decades representing his country.
