PHOTOS: Women protesters burn down Plateau traditional ruler’s house

A group of protesting women set fire to the house of the District Head of Bokkos town, Michal Monday Adanchi, in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State on Friday afternoon.

According to a source from the area, who spoke to Daily Trust incident took place around 12:30 pm.

The women, fueled by their frustration over the recent killings in the community, decided to take matters into their own hands.

These attacks, which occurred on the Eve of Christmas, resulted in the loss of over 150 lives and the destruction of hundreds of houses.

The source revealed that the women burned down the traditional ruler’s residence and his administrative office.

“The incident began at the police station where they expressed their anger over the arrest of some members of the community. After leaving the police station, they proceeded to the house of the traditional ruler, protesting that he was a sellout. A few minutes after reaching the house, they set it ablaze,” the source explained.

In response to the protest, soldiers were deployed to disperse the women.

Meanwhile, the Plateau State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Alfred Alabo, confirmed the incident and assured that the command would release a statement regarding the incident soon.
