Detectives are investigating the death of an unidentified woman whose body was discovered inside a sack abandoned near the Nairobi River in the Dagoretti area of Nairobi.

The grim discovery was made on Sunday morning in the Kampi Moto locality, police confirmed.

Officers who responded to the scene found the body of a woman believed to be about 25 years old hidden inside a green sack next to the river.

According to investigators, there were no bloodstains or signs of a struggle at the location, raising suspicions that the victim may have been killed elsewhere before her body was transported and dumped by the riverside.

Police said an initial examination did not reveal any visible external injuries. The exact cause of death is expected to be determined through a post-mortem examination.

After documenting and processing the scene, detectives transferred the body to the Nairobi City Mortuary for preservation as efforts to establish the woman’s identity continue.

Authorities have urged anyone with information that could assist in identifying the deceased or help unravel the circumstances surrounding her death to report to the nearest police station as investigations progress.

In a separate incident, detectives have also opened an investigation into the death of a 33-year-old security guard who was found fatally stabbed in the Imara area of Embakasi, Nairobi.

The deceased, identified as Justus Muthee Nzioki, was found at around 6:30 a.m. on Sunday.

Police officers who arrived at the scene discovered Nzioki lying on his back in a pool of blood.

Preliminary findings showed that he had suffered a stab wound to the chest.

Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) officers from Embakasi photographed, documented, and processed the scene. Investigators said the suspected murder weapon was not recovered, although the deceased’s mobile phone was found in his pockets.

The body was taken to Nairobi City Mortuary, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted to establish the precise cause of death.

Police said investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the killing and identify those responsible.
