Detectives in Kenya are investigating two separate deaths reported in Migori and Embu counties, while police in Kirinyaga have arrested a 65-year-old man suspected of killing his son in a fatal stabbing.

In Migori County, investigators are seeking to establish the circumstances surrounding the death of a 40-year-old man whose body was discovered with a severe neck injury along a road leading towards the Gwassi border.

The deceased, identified as Mathews Ouma Ngau, was found dead in Karungu West Location, Nyatike Sub-County, on October 14, 2026.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Ouma was last seen at approximately 11pm while heading home in the company of a neighbour.

Police officers who examined the body observed a deep cut on the neck, which investigators suspect was inflicted with a sharp object.

After documenting the scene, officers transferred the body to St Camillus Hospital mortuary, where it was preserved ahead of a post-mortem examination.

Detectives are working to determine what led to the killing and reconstruct the events preceding the discovery of the body. No arrests had been reported in connection with the incident by the time of publication.

Herdsman Found Dead Near Tana River

In a separate incident in Embu County, police have opened an investigation into the death of a 50-year-old herdsman whose body was discovered near the Tana River in the Kinara area of Mwea Sub-County.

The man, identified only as Mutuku, reportedly left home for a grazing field at about 9am on October 14, 2026. His body was found later that day.

Officers who responded to the scene found him lying face down approximately 20 metres from the riverbank.

A preliminary examination revealed dried blood around his face, apparently originating from the mouth, alongside a fresh injury and swelling around the waist.

Investigators did not recover any weapon at the scene. Police had also not announced any arrests in connection with the death at the time of reporting.

The circumstances that led to the herdsman’s death remain unclear, with detectives yet to establish whether he was attacked or determine the motive behind the suspected killing.

His body was subsequently taken to Embu Level Five Hospital mortuary for preservation as authorities awaited a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.

Investigations are continuing as officers seek to establish what happened and identify any individuals who may have been involved.

Suspect Arrested Over Fatal Stabbing of Son

Meanwhile, police in Kirinyaga County have arrested a 65-year-old man suspected of fatally stabbing his 30-year-old son.

The suspect was apprehended on October 14, 2026, after allegedly going into hiding following the incident.

According to police, the man subsequently guided officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Kirinyaga Central, to his homestead, where they recovered a kitchen knife bearing blood stains.

Investigators suspect the knife was used in the fatal stabbing. The weapon was documented and secured as potential evidence in the case.

The arrest followed an incident report filed on October 13, 2026, concerning the death of the suspect’s son.

Following his arrest, the 65-year-old was presented before the Kerugoya Law Courts under a Criminal Miscellaneous Application. The court ordered that he be remanded for one week to allow detectives to conduct further investigations.

Police are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident as they build their case.

The three incidents have prompted separate investigations across Migori, Embu and Kirinyaga counties, with authorities pursuing leads in the two deaths under investigation and gathering evidence in the Kirinyaga case.
