Wema, Sterling others suffer service disruption

Some financial institutions have sent out cautionary messages to their various customers over service disruption via their mobile and online banking systems.

Wema Bank, Sterling Bank ,First City Monument Bank amongst others have sent messages to their customers.

The message from Wema Bank reads “You might be experiencing downtime while to log into the ALAT app.

“We are fully aware of the situation and guarantee this would be resolved in the shortest time possible. We sincerely regret and apologize for all inconvenience this is causing.”

Sterling in same vein said, “We are aware that you may be experiencing difficulties trying to transfer funds, reach our customer care team, or transact via USSD and genuinely apologize for the effect of this on your day.

“We are fully committed to providing the best service and are working tirelessly to resolve this issue. You have our promise to notify you as soon as it has been fixed.

“Got complaints or transaction dispute that needs urgent attention? Please use our self-service complaints channel.

“Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to serve you better.”

The service disruption has affected online transactions as well as point of sale transaction at retail outlets, as observed by out correspondent. As a result retailers have opted for cash transactions.

Reacting, an X user @Asiwaju_lerry complained of how none of his bank apps are opening, he wrote “None of my bank app is working. Airtel network wan take my life. Life as a Nigerian no easy Wallahi”
