The National Agency for the Control of AIDS has reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for a healthy and responsible expression of love, especially amid ongoing global health challenges with Valentine’s Day approaching,

This was contained in a statement issued by the Director General of the National Agency for the Control of AIDS,  Dr. Gambo Aliyu.

“As Valentine’s Day approaches, NACA remains steadfast in its commitment to promoting a celebration of love that prioritizes health and responsibility, particularly amidst ongoing global health challenges,” the statement read.

Dr. Aliyu emphasized the importance of integrating safety measures into expressions of affection, encouraging open communication, mutual respect, and responsible decision-making within relationships. “Love is a powerful force, and by embracing responsible practices, we can ensure that it enriches our lives without compromising our health,” he emphasized.

He further urged the public to incorporate protection into intimate moments, emphasizing regular HIV testing and discussions about sexual health with partners. “NACA is dedicated to providing resources, information, and support to empower individuals in making informed choices,” Dr. Aliyu added.

According to Dr. Aliyu, these measures not only enhance personal health but also contribute to the broader goal of building safer and healthier communities.

“In line with our mission, NACA will conduct comprehensive awareness campaigns this Valentine’s Day to educate the public about the importance of both abstinence and safe sex practices,” Dr. Aliyu stated. “The agency aims to create an environment where love is celebrated responsibly, fostering a community that values support and health consciousness.”
