Two men hired for hostel renovation in UNICAL arrested after stealing students’ belongings
Security operatives attached to the University of Calabar have arrested two suspected thieves who stole electrical appliances including pressing irons and lamp holders at the institution’s students’ hostel.
The suspects were arrested on Friday, during a stop-and-search of vehicles going in and out of the campus.
The stop-and-search was part of the measure put in place by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Florence Banku Obi, to safeguard students and staff on campus including the critical infrastructure.
It was gathered that the two men were among workers hired for the ongoing renovation work in the hostel.
The duo confessed that they stole the items from the hostel after close of work. They have been handed over to the police for further interrogation and prosecution.
