Two Kenyans abducted by al-Shabab militants found dead
Officials on Thursday reported that the remains of two Kenyan wine tappers who were abducted by suspected al-Shabab militants in the coastal county of Lamu had been discovered after a lengthy search.
Lamu County Commissioner Irungu Macharia said the remains of the elderly men aged between 47 and 60 years were discovered by local civilians who later alerted security officers.
Macharia said on phone that “we were informed that locals stumbled upon the remains suspected to be of the two individuals who were abducted on Jan. 5 by al-Shabab militants.
“We plan to have them removed and given to their families in due time.’’
He added that a team of security personnel had been deployed in Lamu County to wage an onslaught against militants who have been raiding homes while killing and maiming innocent civilians.
