It is exactly a year since NBA legend, Kobe Bryant and his daughter, Gianna Bryant, died in a horrific chopper crash and the memory still looks fresh in the heart of people all over the world.
While the world was dealing with the COVID-19 outbreak which was yet to be declared a pandemic as well as the efforts to contain the Australian fire, the tragic death of Kobe, and Gianna, 13, sent shivers into our spines when the tragic news broke in the early hours of January 26, 2020.
Seven other people also lost their lives when the Sikorsky S-76 crashed into a hillside in Calabasas, northwest of Los Angeles.
The other victims:
The seven other victims in the chopper crash include John Altobelli, 56, a longtime head coach of Southern California’s Orange Coast College baseball team; his wife, Keri; and daughter, Alyssa, who played on the same basketball team as Bryant’s daughter.
Christina Mauser, a girls’ basketball coach at a Southern California elementary school also lost her life. Another young player, Payton Chester, was also killed in the crash along with her mother Sarah Chester.
The pilot, Ara Zobayan, 50, completed the list of nine lives lost when the helicopter lurched into a California hillside.
The National Transportation Safety Board is set to release its final report on the incident on Feb. 9, including a proximate cause and subsequent safety recommendations. – US Today
Twitter remembers Kobe:
Not every legend is a myth, some are flesh and blood. Some legends walk among us, but they aren’t born, they are built. Legends are made from iron & sweat, mind and muscle, blood and vision and victory. Legends are champions, they grow, they win, they conquer. There’s a legend behind every legacy, there’s a blueprint behind every legend- Arnold Schwarzeneggar
It is on the aforementioned curtain that WuzupNigeria brings below, memorial tweets as the world remember Kobe one year after:
Man 1 year ago Kobe died. I remember flying into Hawaii and the very first day I was there, I saw the news on Twitter. Awful time. Still doesn’t feel real that he’s gone
