Türkiye has emerged as the world’s most expensive market for Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro, according to Deutsche Bank Research Institute’s Mapping the World’s Prices 2026 report.

The report revealed that the smartphone is sold for $2,592 in Türkiye, making it approximately 2.2 times costlier than the price in the United States.

Deutsche Bank linked the significant price difference to Türkiye’s high tax burden and the substantial depreciation of the Turkish Lira over the past decade.

The study noted that Türkiye recorded the highest iPhone price among the 41 economies included in the survey.

Despite the high cost of the device, Istanbul, Türkiye’s largest city, ranked lower in several other cost-of-living categories. The city’s grocery index was measured at 42 percent of New York’s level, while average monthly utility expenses stood at $90 and internet services cost $16.5 per month.

Istanbul also placed 53rd out of 69 cities in Deutsche Bank’s global restaurant price rankings. The report found that a three-course meal for two people at a mid-range restaurant averaged $53 in 2026, equivalent to about 38 percent of the cost of a similar meal in New York.

The research further showed that Istanbul’s average monthly net salary reached $1,173 in 2026, positioning the city at 56th among the 69 cities analyzed.

Although housing prices in Istanbul have risen in recent years, they remained relatively affordable compared with many global cities. The average monthly rent for a three-bedroom apartment was recorded at $1,943, while a one-bedroom apartment averaged $968. Apartment prices in central areas stood at about $3,087 per square metre, placing Istanbul 54th for rental costs and 58th for property purchase prices in the survey.
