A cleric who officiated the Fidau prayer for late Nollywood actor Ogogo has clarified reports circulating on social media concerning N25 million reportedly transferred into the actor’s account before his death.
Recall that Ogogo died on Sunday, August 23, 2026, after a brief battle with cancer. He was buried in his hometown of Ilaro, Ogun State, while his eighth-day Fidau prayer was held on Monday, August 31, 2026.
The officiating cleric paused the prayer ceremony to respond to what he described as misleading claims circulating online about the purpose of the money.
According to the cleric, Ogogo had expressed a long-standing desire to renovate his grandfather’s house. He said the actor remained committed to the project even during his illness and ensured that the required funds were available before his death so the renovation could commence.
The cleric also dismissed claims that the N25 million was meant for the construction of a mosque. He said some bloggers had incorrectly reported that the money was intended for mosque construction, stressing that the claim was false. He explained that the funds were specifically set aside for the renovation of the house Ogogo had planned to work on before his death.
The clarification offered an insight into Ogogo’s personal commitment to completing a project that was important to him. Despite his deteriorating health, he reportedly ensured that the money needed for the renovation was in place, making it one of the final plans he took steps to accomplish before his passing.
