Trump calls Kamala Harris anti-semitic, baby murderer

Published

Former US President and 2024 Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has laid several accusations against his election rival, Kamala Harris, during a speech at a religious convention in southern Florida on Friday.

Trump, who is facing multiple legal challenges, accused Harris of being anti-Semitic and claimed she plans to allow the murder of newborn babies.

Harris, who is married to a Jewish man, recently gained support after taking over as the top Democratic candidate from President Joe Biden.

During his hour-long speech at the Turning Point Action’s “The Believers Summit,” Trump attacked Harris’s record, but many of his claims were not based on facts.

“She doesn’t like Jewish people. She doesn’t like Israel. That’s the way it is, and that’s the way it’s always going to be. She’s not going to change,” Trump said. He also claimed, “She is totally against the Jewish people,” which he repeated during a visit to North Carolina.

Trump’s comments were part of a broader attack on Harris, including false accusations that she would force doctors to perform chemical castrations on children and that she might cheat in the November election. He claimed, “If Kamala Harris has her way, they will have a federal law for abortion, to rip the baby out of the womb in the eighth, ninth month and even after birth — execute the baby after birth.”

The former president’s speech included other false claims, such as suggesting that the Justice Department and FBI were jailing Christians and anti-abortion activists for their beliefs. He also criticized Biden’s campaign exit as a “coup” and called America a “laughing stock.”

Trump, now 78, is running against Harris, who is 20 years his junior, and is facing a challenging election as he deals with his own legal issues. He had earlier received a hero’s welcome at the Republican convention in Milwaukee.

Kamala Harris, aiming to become the first female president of the US, has been actively campaigning and has received support from former President Barack Obama. Harris has highlighted Trump’s criminal convictions and criticized Republican attacks on freedoms in the US.

Democrats have pointed out that Trump’s refusal to debate Harris might show his fear of facing her on stage. “It shows that he’s afraid,” said Transport Secretary Pete Buttigieg, a Harris supporter. “It shows that he knows that if the two of them are on a stage together, it’s not going to end well for him.”
