GTBank denies website hack, cites connectivity issues

Published

Guaranty Trust Bank has dismissed reports that its website was hacked.

The bank said the website’s current inaccessibility is due to a connectivity issue, not a hack.

On Wednesday night, numerous reports stated that GTBank’s website, gtbank.com, was not reachable.

This problem came just after the domain was renewed for another five years, extending its validity from August 13, 2024, to March 21, 2029.

The executive added, “It’s false. What we are experiencing is a connectivity issue and has nothing to do with the alleged hacking.”

Despite the website’s downtime, the bank’s mobile apps for Android and iOS were still working.

No hacker group has claimed responsibility for any alleged breach, and there were no reports of a fraudulent website set up to steal customer information.
